Music is fleeting, existing only in moments, vanishing as soon as the final note fades. Yet it moves us in ways that physical objects rarely can. Every song has an ending, but this project seeks to transform music’s ephemeral nature into lasting, tangible forms, allowing it to be seen, touched, and worn.
Inspired by Gluck’s 1762 opera 'Orfeo ed Euridice', the pieces are shaped by the musical structure, emotional depth, and narrative, which serve as foundational elements in the design process. While the music provides the primary inspiration, it is more than just an auditory experience. The story, symbols, and the emotional journey of Orfeo and Euridice become fundamental, incorporated through form, material and colour.
The resulting collection translates the opera’s three central characters – Amore, Euridice and Orfeo – into jewellery, capturing their song, emotions, and motivations. It explores themes of inevitable loss, the struggle to overcome fate, and the torment of almost succeeding. Through this project, the fleeting beauty of what cannot last is preserved.
This piece belongs to Amore and is titled Unlovable. It can be worn as both a necklace and a face ornament, partially veiling the eyes as a symbol of Amore’s blindness to the pain he inflicts.
